Founded in 1999 by Ar. Shyna Rajesh and Er. Rajesh Sivan Vilayil, Building Concepts is a multidisciplinary architectural practice built on a deep commitment to design excellence, where art, science, and human experience come together in meaningful ways.
Over the years, the firm has delivered a diverse range of projects including residential homes, apartments, hospitals, convention centres, ropeway stations, educational campuses, hotels and resorts, offices and commercial complexes, places of worship, master plans, urban design projects, and bespoke interior spaces. This broad portfolio has strengthened our ability to approach complex design challenges with clarity, creativity, and technical rigor.
We believe architecture must strike a thoughtful balance between aesthetic expression, functionality, sustainability, and user comfort, while responding sensitively to its cultural, climatic, and environmental context. Every project is carefully customised to reflect the unique vision, needs, and aspirations of each client, resulting in architecture that is both distinctive and enduring.
Based in Kollam, Kerala, the architectural firm has earned recognition for its context-responsive architectural solutions across Kerala and in several locations beyond the state, including West Africa, the Middle East, and other SAARC countries. With a collaborative studio culture and strong project management support, each project receives direct involvement and personal attention from the founders.

Architecture graduate from TKM college of engineering. Member of Council of Architecture, Associate member of Indian Institute of Interior Designers, Appellate Committee member of AICTE, Diploma in Vastu Shastra from Aranmula Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam. Career started with Iqbal Chaney & Associates and later with M/s Jayachandran Muralee & Associates before founding BUILDING CONCEPTS.
Er. Rajesh Sivan Vilayil
Co-Founder & Consultant Engineer
Civil Engineering graduate from MIT Manipal, Member of the Institution of Engineers, Member of the Indian Institute of Valuers, Affiliate Member of the Indian Institute of Interior Designers. Certified Project Engineer by Safety & Loss Prevention Department, Saudi Aramco. Citation from CECRI, India, for a research paper presented on anti-corrosive treatment of reinforcement steel. Worked on major projects with Rubicon Apartments, Bhageeratha Engineering Ltd, Konkan Railways and as Senior Projects Manager for Saudi Aramco projects before founding Building Concepts
